Parachute Backup

Parachute Apps develops Parachute Backup for macOS, iPhone, and iPad. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we handle your information in Parachute Backup.

We do not collect your files, iCloud credentials, or backup contents.

All Parachute Apps operate entirely on your device. We do not transmit or store your backed-up files with us or any third party. We do collect limited product analytics about feature usage, not connected to personal information, to understand how our apps and website are used. Specifically:

• We do not collect, log, or transmit your iCloud credentials.
• We do not collect or transmit the contents of your photos, documents, backups, or other files.
• We may collect limited usage and diagnostic data related to how our website or products are used, not connected to personal information.
• We use PostHog for analytics in our apps, and PostHog plus Google Analytics for analytics on our website.
• If you choose to sign up for our newsletter, we collect only your email address for that purpose.
• We may transmit App Store receipt data to cloud.parachutebackup.com for server-side receipt validation.

All processing is done locally on your device.

• Parachute Backup accesses your files solely to copy them from iCloud to the destination folder you choose.

No files, contacts, or personal information leave your device through our applications.

We use PostHog, provided via posthog.com, to collect product analytics for our apps. This data is limited to feature usage and diagnostics, not connected to personal information, and helps us understand feature usage, improve reliability, and prioritize development.

On our website, we use PostHog and Google Analytics to understand website usage and improve the site.

We do not use PostHog to collect the contents of your backups, your iCloud credentials, or the contents of your photos, documents, or other files.

If you choose to connect a third-party storage provider such as Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, Parachute may copy your backup data to that provider solely at your direction. Use of those services is optional and subject to the privacy policies and terms of the provider you choose.

If you choose to sign up for our newsletter, we use Campaign Monitor, provided via campaignmonitor.com, to store and manage your email subscription. Newsletter signup is optional, and we collect only your email address for this purpose.

We use our own service, cloud.parachutebackup.com, to perform server-side App Store receipt validation for purchase and entitlement checks.

We do not use advertising networks or targeted advertising services.

Because your backup data is processed locally and not stored by us, the security of your files depends on:

• Your chosen backup destinations (for example local disk, external drive, or NAS).
• Your iCloud account security.
• Your local system security practices.
• The security practices of any storage provider you choose, such as Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
• The security practices of Campaign Monitor if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter.
• The security practices of third-party providers we use for limited usage and diagnostic data not connected to personal information.

You are responsible for securing your chosen storage locations and maintaining appropriate system security.

Our apps integrate only with standard Apple platform services and operating system APIs required for their functionality:

• CloudKit for iCloud access.
• File system access for local file operations.
• Standard macOS, iOS, and iPadOS APIs for file management and app functionality.

All integrations respect Apple platform privacy controls and require appropriate user permissions.

Our applications are not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect or store information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our applications or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on our website at parachuteapps.com/privacy and, where applicable, communicated through app updates.
